Over-the-Counter Items, Healthy Foods*, and Utility Assistance*

Eligible Champion Health Plan members may qualify for a ChampionWellness Card* and quarterly allowance to help get over-the-counter items, healthy foods, and utilities assistance.

Depending on the plan, eligible members could qualify for a quarterly allowance to use towards approved wellness items, healthy foods/groceries, and utility bills.*

Who can use this benefit:

Over-the-Counter (OTC) Benefits

Use your ChampionWellness card to buy everyday health items approved by your plan and listed in the OTC catalog. If an item is not in the catalog, you cannot buy it with your card.

Personal care Lotion, soap, shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrushes, denture care, feminine care
Cold, allergy, and pain relief Cold and flu medicine, allergy products, pain relievers, muscle creams, heating pads
Diabetes and digestive health Diabetes supplies, nutrition drinks, heartburn medicine, probiotics
First aid and foot care Bandages, gloves, wipes, wound care, foot care, antifungal treatments
Supports and mobility Braces, canes, walkers, compression socks, bathroom safety items
Home health and safety Blood pressure monitors, thermometers, COVID tests, pill organizers
Incontinence and skin care Briefs, pads, bed protectors, skin creams, wipes
Vitamins and nutrition Vitamins, supplements, nutrition shakes, weight management foods
Oral hygiene Dental floss, mouthwash, toothpaste

Healthy Food and Grocery Benefits

If you qualify for Special Supplemental Benefits for the Chronically Ill (SSBCI), you can use your card for healthier foods listed in the OTC catalog. Food items must be in the catalog to be eligible.

Fruits and vegetables Fresh or frozen produce; canned fruits and vegetables with low sugar or low sodium
Proteins Chicken, turkey, beef, fish, seafood, eggs, beans, lentils
Dairy and alternatives Milk, yogurt, cheese, almond milk, soy milk, oat milk
Whole grains and pantry items Whole wheat bread, brown rice, quinoa, pasta, oatmeal, cereal, healthy oils, spices
Healthy snacks and drinks Nuts, seeds, nutrition bars, healthy soups, water, juice, herbal tea

Utility Benefits

If you qualify for Special Supplemental Benefits for the Chronically Ill (SSBCI), your card may also help pay for basic services.

Phone and internet Internet and cell phone service
Pay at the Pump Gasoline Gasoline for personal vehicles, when covered by your plan

How to Use Your Card

  • Use your card with vendors that accept OTC Network. Choose “Credit” when asked how you want to pay, and make sure your balance covers the full cost before you pay.
  • You can shop in stores or online. Store options can change, so check before you shop.

ChampionWellness Rewards Program

Eligible members can earn rewards for completing certain preventive services their provider recommends. Rewards are added to the ChampionWellness VISA® debit card once the service is verified by Champion Health Plan, which can be used towards approved wellness items, healthy foods/groceries, and utility bills.*

Frequently Asked Questions About Our Healthy Foods Benefit

Not for the OTC portion. You need a qualifying chronic condition and to meet SSBCI eligibility rules to use the healthy foods and utility assistance portion.

Many plans offer about $300 to $500 each quarter, depending on the plan. Check your Evidence of Coverage for your exact amount.
