Get Support for Dialysis Treatment at Home

Champion Health Plan believes your care should fit your life. If home dialysis is right for you, our Chronic Kidney Disease plans include extra support to help you succeed.*

When you are new to home hemodialysis, a trained nurse visits you to help set up your machine and show you how to place the needle for your treatments. This is called ESRD Care / Start Dialysis Treatment.

Caring for a loved one on dialysis can be tiring. Many Chronic Kidney Disease plans include Respite Care through The Helper Bees, up to twelve 4-hour sessions a year, so your caregiver can rest. This is a larger allowance than the standard Respite Care benefit on other Champion Health Plan plans.

What happens when I start home dialysis?

Is the caregiver respite benefit the same as the general Respite Care benefit?

It uses the same Helper Bees partner, but Chronic Kidney Disease plans include up to twelve 4-hour sessions a year, more than the standard respite allowance on other plans. See our Respite Care Benefit page for general details.

Do I need to meet special requirements?

This benefit is part of a special supplemental program for the chronically ill. You must be on dialysis to qualify. See your Evidence of Coverage, Chapter 4, Section 2, for full eligibility details.
