Over-the-Counter Benefits
If your Champion Health Plan includes an Over-the-Counter benefit, you can use your allowance for covered health and wellness items. You do not need to have a qualifying chronic condition to use this benefit.
Allowance amounts and covered items vary by plan. Check your Evidence of Coverage for the benefits and allowance included with your plan.
Healthy Foods and Utility Assistance
If you have a qualifying chronic condition, you may also qualify to use your allowance for healthy foods and eligible utility bills.
Qualifying conditions may include:
- Diabetes
- Heart or blood vessel conditions
- A history of stroke
- Late-stage chronic kidney disease
- End-stage renal disease
- Obesity or metabolic syndrome
- Cancer
This is not a complete list. Having one of these conditions does not mean you will automatically qualify. You must meet the eligibility requirements for Special Supplemental Benefits for the Chronically Ill (SSBCI).

This benefit is part of a special program designed to support members living with certain chronic health conditions.
Who Can Qualify?
Not everyone qualifies, but you may be eligible if you have a chronic condition such as:
- Diabetes
- Heart or cardiovascular conditions
- History of stroke
- Overweight, obesity, or metabolic syndrome
- Cancer
